On-site waste disposal systems
In all homes and offices waste water and sewage is generated in the course of daily activities like cleaning, bathing, washing clothes. Usually this waste water and sewage are connected to the sewage system of the local government authorities which have specialized systems for treatments of these effluents before they are discharged into a water body like a lake, river or the sea. The local government authorities which usually charge a fee for this service. However, there are some instances when it is not possible to use the public waste disposal system, hence On-site disposal systems will have to be installed and used.
At times, the home or workplace is located in a remote location, which is very far away from the public sewage pipe network, and installing a connection may not be feasible. In other cases, a plumbing emergency may make it difficult to connect to the public waste disposal system, as the waste has to be treated immediately. A short term solution will be needed in such cases. The on-site disposal system will treat the waste water and sewage so that it can be reused or converted into a form that does not cause damage to the environment or cause a stink.
The sediments, chemicals and organic matter in the waste water and sewage are separated using a combination of mechanical and chemical treatment processes. The mechanical treatment includes using filters to remove the mud, dirt and sludge from the water, so that the water is relatively clean. Chemicals may then be added to the water to react with the dissolved chemicals in the water, to ensure that the water is relatively clean. This water can then be used for activities where a high level of water purity is not needed, for watering plants, washing vehicles like cars, or for swabbing the floor, and this also reduces the consumption of clean water needed.
